Our Services
At Maplehurst Stock Farm, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for all horses, whether it be for boarding, breeding, foaling, or sales prep. Our farm offers a wide range of services to meet the needs of all horses and their owners.
Boarding
We offer boarding services for broodmares, yearlings, layups, retirement, and pleasure horses. Our facilities include spacious stalls, daily turnout, and a customized feeding program to meet the individual needs of each horse.
Covered Riding Arena
Our 140 x 85 covered riding arena with lighting provides a comfortable and safe environment for all riders, regardless of the weather. Whether you’re looking to train for a competition or simply want to ride for pleasure, our arena offers a perfect place to ride.
Breeding Shed Runs
We offer breeding shed runs for stallions during breeding season. Our transporters provide all the necessary amenities to ensure a safe and efficient breeding trip.
Mare Foaling Services
We offer mare foaling services to provide the best possible care for your mare and her foal. Our experienced staff is equipped to handle all aspects of foaling, including monitoring, assistance during delivery, and post-foaling care.
Yearling Breaking and Sales Prep
Our yearling breaking and sales prep program is designed to help prepare your yearling for the sales ring. We offer a comprehensive training program that includes daily exercise, grooming, and proper nutrition to help your yearling reach their full potential.
Our History
Although Maplehurst Stock Farm was established in 1905 by W.A. Bacon Jr., the history of the property spans farther into the past. The Bayless House was built circa 1877 by Nathan H Bayless and his wife Laura.
In 1898, Jay Bird, a standout in the racing world, was purchased by W.A. Bacon Jr. for the sum of $2,600 and was brought to Bacon’s Maplehurst Stock Farm where he spent the rest of his life. His breeding career spanned 25 years, during which he sired numerous successful racehorses. His offspring went on to win countless races and earn millions of dollars in prize money and his descendants continue to dominate the world of harness racing.
Since the farm was established in 1905, the Maplehurst Stock Farm has been proud to continue the legacy of compassionate and individualized care. Now under new ownership, Maplehurst Stock Farm has become home to Mane Characters, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of equines in need.
